MYPF aims to support vulnerable families impacted by incarcerated, to access basic services that enhance their well-being and re-settlement in society

1.     Support to appropriate education services: in both formal and vocational institutions:

• Payment of school dues
• Provision of basic school requirements
• Career guidance

2.     Support to access basic health services including psychosocial support:

• Facilitate to access appropriate health services.
• Provision of assistive devices to persons with disabilities
• Referral of MHPSS cases to relevant government health facilities such as Butabika Hospital.
• Hire of a counselor for one-one-one sessions upon release of inmates and counseling for family members

3.      HIV awareness

• To increase awareness by educating incarcerated individuals and their families about HIV-AIDS transmission, prevention, testing, and treatment. It aims to promote HIV testing and facilitate access to treatment for those who are HIV positive, ensuring they receive the necessary support. Additionally, through trainings MYDF seeks to reduce the stigma surrounding HIV-AIDS within incarcerated populations and their families, fostering an environment of understanding and acceptance. The trainings are designed to empower families by equipping them with the knowledge and resources needed to support their HIV-positive loved ones effectively. 

4.      Provide access to livelihood options to enhance reunification and settlement for ex-inmates.

• Facilitate and guidance on appropriate options that former inmates would adapt in order to transition into the society and support their children. This would range from home projects such as farming and small business establishments.
